Is it possible to remove an etched pattern from a gl window?

We have two window panes on our front door and each has a decorative floral pattern etched onto the gl. Looks like the previous owner did it (it's not well done... can see sc marks etc from the application process). Is there anyway to remove this stuff? If I scratch off a tiny bit with my fingernail it seems to come off, which makes me think it may be possible to remove it with some type of solution that would break it down first.
