Why is the circle of latitude 23° 26′ 22″ north called the tropic of cancer, does that have anything to do....?

This isn't really to do with astrology it's more to do with astronomy when the two were part of natural philosophy. So really you'd want a science johnny to answer it. Now it is sort of linked to ley lines and those old monuments like Stonehenge and that place in Ireland, in that the geography of the earth matters if you were making something that linked in with sunrise sunset or midday because the Sun appears to move around a bit back and forth that's what the tropic part means from the Tropic of Cancer in the North to the Tropic of Capricorn in the South, so what astrologers refer to as the midheaven medium Coeli position for the Sun during the solstices basically it dances between these two parallels. It is linked to astrology only in terms of the music of the spheres or if you are into that DaVinci code stuff occult geometry. Otherwise it's really an astronomy calculation, the difference would be do you actually want to know where the Sun will be at midday on the solstices or are you happy with the star charts. Because of the precession of the equinoxes and I'm not too clear about that it's not in Cancer or Capricorn anymore, and then there are other wobbles that go on, that's the problem with the music of the spheres the charts were never complete, you had to feel for the thing, and every now and then something surprising happens. And then if you take into consideration global warming winter doesn't happen at the Winter solstice any more not in terms of vegetation or bird migration, it may still have something to do with the solar position, but in terms of astrology that's just one energy, yep I suppose I hadn't really thought about it but yep it probably has got as much to do with astrology as astronomy. But if you are asking what it means in either you'd have to formulate a more precise question in terms of what. But I'll star the question why not.
