Any way to get mildew out of a clothing item?

It depends on what it is. To get rid of a mildew smell the clothing needs to be washed in hot water, which will destroy some things. If you can wash it in hot water, add a cup of vinegar or ammonia to the water. Let it soak about an hour, then add detergent and wash as usual.
